a. Open Command Prompt (Run as administrator).
b. Now you need to enter net stop wuauserv.
This will stop the ongoing update service of Windows 10.

2. Clean Windows Update Cache files.
a. Continue typing “cd\windows”.
b. Type “rd /s SoftwareDistribution“, and then choose all files in this folder and delete them.
Note: If you cannot delete some of the files, reboot your computer. After you restart your computer, follow the next steps.

3. Restart the Windows Update service.
a. To do that, Open Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and enter “net start wuauserv“.
This will start the ongoing update service of Windows 10.

4. Run Windows Update again
Last step is to run the windows update again on your PC. So this time, you will be able to successfully download and install the Windows 10 system update smoothly without being stuck.
